Alright. I know the basics of a DSLR camera and can take decent photos. I know how to manipulate ISO, shutter speed, aperture, etc. to filter in a good amount of light and/or color. But I don't feel satisfied with the quality of my pictures. What to do to get over this discouraging period in my creative journey?

Hi Daniel, you've come to the right place. We're going to let the community help you with answers. Our best tip to learn is trial and error. You'll end up knowing what works for you and what doesn't, In our opinion it's all about practice and patientce.
I definitely agree with the trial and error tip. I am still working on my photography skills, but i'm leap and bounds ahead of where I was a year or two ago. Best advice I can give is to continue taking pics. Social media outlets are helpful with creative ideas, but in the end the shot depends on the person behind the camera.
Also, most novice/nonprofessional photographers are pretty helpful so if you see a pic or something you like I definitely recommend hitting them up for tips or tricks
Take 1 Million pictures.
Go shoot with other photographers.
Watch ALL of the youtube video tutorials you can find.
Definitely try to shoot everything at first until you find your style and what excites you about photography. Also try to master programs like lightroom or photoshop, it would definitely help you improve your pictures and you will see all the possibilities that comes with it.
